Hong Kong Hotels Win for Dim Sum, Art and Shopping in the 2012 HotelClub Hotel Awards
2012-02-29
HONG KONG, February 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) Hong Kong's reputation for delicious food, outstanding art and shopping is highlighted in today's launch of the 2012 HotelClub Hotel Awards in Hong Kong. Thirty winning and finalist hotels are recognised this year for their excellence in the unique specialties that the region has to offer.

HotelClub Hotel Awards is a flagship programme that honours exceptional hotels from the most popular destinations around the world. The 2012 Hong Kong hotel award categories are uniquely tailored for specific local customs like the symphony of lights show and the famous tram line. The hotel winners were selected based on genuine member reviews posted on www.hotelclub.com and via HotelClub's on-the-ground hotel experts.

"These awards acknowledge and reflect our travel trends that show Hong Kong's popularity with our members. According to our data, Hong Kong has long been a favourite city for travellers, ranking consistently as the third most popular destination for all HotelClub members," said Jeremy Bellinghausen, President of HotelClub.

"Ultimately, we want to encourage our members to experience all the city has to offer and these awards will hopefully benefit travellers in helping them make more informed choices when booking hotels in Hong Kong."

Hong Kong is a visual city known for its spectacular skyline that is eye-catching by day and lights up at night. To enjoy the views, HotelClub has selected Hotel LKF By Rhombus as the winner of Most Stunning Hotel Rooftop Bar. The Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers was awarded the Top Spot to Catch the Symphony of Lights Show, for its harbour view rooms facing Victoria Harbour, home of the world-renowned light show.

A popular pastime for travellers, shopping in Hong Kong is among the best in the world. With its close proximity to the well-known Citygate outlet shopping centre, Novotel Citygate Hong Kong is the winner of Most Chic Hotel Shopping Spot.

Even while on holiday, travellers still like to enjoy the benefits of technology. The Mira Hotel Hong Kong, winner of Top Tech-friendly Hotel, recognises this and features optional in-room amenities like computers and mobile phones. One HotelClub member said, "facilities in the room were great, there is a dock for you to put your iPod in and it plays music through speakers in the bathroom".

Hong Kong holidaymakers with a keen eye for beautiful art will enjoy the Hotel ICON, winner of Most Outstanding Art Hotel. This hotel promotes home grown talent and regularly invites local artists, including students from the Polytechnic University, to exhibit their work.

Visitors to Hong Kong have a variety of culinary options to try, with dim sum one of the most popular selections. Ming Court, the contemporary Chinese restaurant located in the Langham Place Hotel Hong Kong, is the recipient of two Michelin stars as well as the HotelClub award for Most Delicious Dim Sum Spot.

While Hong Kong is a spectacular destination to visit, one of its perks is its central location making it easy to access other hot spots. Winner of Best Travel Gateway Hotel, The Harbour Plaza Metropolis Hotel is close to the Hung Hom MTR station, which is the gateway to South China. As one HotelClub member said, "excellent free shuttle service from Kowloon Airport Express Railway Station and a frequent free shuttle to the local vibrant shopping centre, certainly would stay again."

Travellers are further rewarded when booking with HotelClub through the pioneering HotelClub Rewards Program, where every booking made earns them HotelClub Member Rewards, which can be used on their next booking.

The winning hotels will each receive a beautifully designed trophy or certificate for their lobby or reception area and will enjoy extensive promotion by HotelClub. The full list of Hong Kong award winners can be found on the HotelClub Awards website at www.hotelclub.com/Hotel-Awards. All guest comments are taken from HotelClub guest reviews and can be found on www.hotelclub.com.
