Kangaroo Island Pure Grain Committed to Growing Non-Genetically Modified Grain Featured in Food & Drink Digital

A company as pure as the soil that fertilizes its crops, Kangaroo Island Pure Grain embarked on a mission in 2009 to not only grow pure, non-genetically modified grain, but also spread awareness.

2012-02-29
SAN DIEGO, CA, February 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) A company as pure as the soil that fertilizes its crops, Kangaroo Island Pure Grain embarked on a mission in 2009 to not only grow pure, non-genetically modified grain, but also spread awareness. With a sustainably minded group of 86 farmers, the first three years of KIPG's operation has proven to make a real difference keeping people on the land in Australia.

"The culture in our company is to produce well and produce sustainably the best agricultural food products available in the world today," says managing director Duncan MacGillivray. "We will go to every possible length to maintain this quality and this point of difference."

Australia is in the forefront of no-till farming, a revolutionary method of growing crops that does not disturb the land. Stubble is also not burned prior to planting new seeds. Instead, GPS-based technology from the United States allows farmers to direct drill seeds within millimetres of the previous crop line.

Advancements in technology has allowed the world to form a global community that brings in isolated areas like Kangaroo Island to increase interest and talk with manufacturers of agricultural products. KIPG is interested to hear from food companies from around the world to form partnerships like the one with Fuji Honey, to supply its product for them to produce into various items.

"What we think we will do is obtain the interest of enough companies one-by-one that we will be able to endorse those companies with our branding," MacGillivray says. "In turn, that will assist those brands in being recognized for sourcing their product from the most clean, green and isolated part of the world."
