Dr. Hamid shares his personal experience while researching his works:

"I don't consider Islam a faith among faiths. This is a path for seeking knowledge about oneself and where one is going," Dr. Hamid said. "In an ideal world, there are millions and millions of things one can learn about Islam. It's the introductory framework to approaching any other sources. It doesn't assume that you've read any other book about Islam, and is meant to provide the gateway to pursuing other encounters with Islam, as well as a benchmark for beginning the process of distinguishing the Muslim/Islamic description. Seeking knowledge over merely holding dogma."

Dr. Idris Hamid has an advanced degree, a Ph.D. from the State University of New York, Buffalo with a cosmology focus, which looks at the center beliefs of Islam.
