North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association Sponsors North Carolina Zoo's Wild Veterinary Camps

Young People Invited To Explore Science And Veterinary Medicine As They Apply To Wild Animals

RALEIGH, NC, March 15, 2012 (Press-News.org) The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (www.ncvma.org) has announced that it is the official sponsor of the North Carolina Zoo's Wild Veterinary Camps for the second consecutive year. The camp's mission is to help young people explore science and veterinary medicine as it applies to wild animals living in zoos or in their native habitats. The Wild Veterinary Camps will give campers first-hand experience working in center treatment rooms, X-ray and lab facilities, along with practice in operating equipment, performing physical exams and more. Campers will also dress the part of a veterinarian. A scrub shirt, name tag and stethoscope are included in the tuition along with lunch and other supplies.

The camp will be broken down according to grade classification. Day camp will be offered to boys and girls grades 7-9 on Saturday, May 19 and Saturday, Sept. 15. The all girls, overnight camp will be held Friday, June 22 - Sunday, June 24 and the co-ed overnight camp will be Friday, July 13 - Sunday, July 15. There is also a session offered for adults 21 and older on Saturday, April 21. Camp sessions will be led by NC Zoo Veterinary Staff.
