New Angle Grinder from Metabo More Comfortable and Safer to Use

Metabo Corporation has introduced the WP11-125 Quick 5" angle grinder with an ergonomic non-locking paddle switch, making it safer and more comfortable to use.

2010-09-26
WEST CHESTER, PA, September 26, 2010 (Press-News.org) Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, has introduced the WP11-125 Quick 5" angle grinder with an ergonomic non-locking paddle switch, making it safer and more comfortable to use.

Ideal for cutting and grinding metal and concrete, Metabo's new angle grinder features a long-lasting 9.6 A motor with 1,100 watts of power, 26.9 inch-lbs of torque and a no-load speed of 10,000 rpm.

The WP11-125 Quick's toolless wheel change system makes changing wheels safe and easy, while increasing operator efficiency. Other safety features of the new grinder include a toolless Quick positioning burst-proof guard with seven positions, a spindle lock, the Metabo "S-Automatic" safety slip clutch that helps to protect the operator from tool kickback should the wheel bind or snag, and a dead-man function that immediately turns the grinder off if it is dropped.

The WP11-125 Quick's dust protection system is one of the most effective on the market. It includes an encapsulated on/off switch and auto-stop carbon brushes, double-lipped labyrinth sealed bearings, Metabo's unique dust-deflecting winding protection grid and epoxy coated field coil windings.

Weighing 5.6 lbs, this new lightweight angle grinder has a secure 'racket' grip design with dual grip zones for comfortable handling. The tool's anti-vibration, two-position side handle absorbs up to 60% of the vibration, allowing the operator to hold the tool longer, resulting in less fatigue.

An optional carrying case is available for the WP11-125.

At 12 years old, I watched space adventures like "Space 1999", which clearly showed the type of advanced technology that would be readily available within my lifetime. As we all know, reality has not really kept pace with the predictions in science fiction, at least in regards to space travel. However, two different technologies have advanced to levels very close to those depicted some 30 years ago: 3D scanning and 3D printing. 3D scanners ...
