Mr. Becker, who has served as President/CEO of ACED since August 2001, has formally notified ACED's Executive Committee of his intent to resign from the position.
The organization's Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Barry Gore, ACED's current Vice President of Business Attraction, to succeed Mr. Becker as ACED President and CEO.
"This has been a rare opportunity," said Mr. Becker, "and I'm proud of our membership, our programs, and our collective results. I owe a very special debt of gratitude to all my teammates, past and present, who did the heavy lifting on the behalf of the great people in Adams County."
During Mr. Becker's tenure, ACED has reported the County realized new capital investments of nearly $5.2 billion with more than 22,000 jobs created.
Mr. Gore joined ACED over five years ago and served as VP of Investor Relations before assuming his current position. According to Frank Martinez, ACED's 2010 Chair, both assignments have positioned Mr. Gore to understand the funding, marketing, and finances of ACED as well its core business of economic development supporting primary employers.
"It's our goal to build on the great success Adams County has enjoyed under Bill Becker's leadership, and we believe that Barry brings the right blend of experience and leadership to do just that," said Mr. Martinez. "His demonstrated leadership, staff support, creativity, and performance results have appropriately earned our trust and respect."
