SPRINGFIELD, IL, March 26, 2012 (Press-News.org) Bruce Wilson of Comcast Spotlight announced today a new interactive cable TV service called "Telescoping" that is being launched in April in the Champaign Zone that will empower advertisers to better explain their products and services in ways that a thirty or sixty second commercial spot cannot. He explained that, "Telescoping is an interactive overlay on a TV commercial that allows advertisers to free themselves from the restrictions of a thirty second commercial and extend messaging about their product or service on demand."
For some time now Comcast Spotlight has had the ability to insert both thirty and sixty second spots on a total of forty-six different networks on their closed cable TV system in the Champaign, Illinois zone. But with this new service known as "Telescoping" subscribers will be able to inform themselves in ways that they could not before. Mr. Wilson stated, "This is a great new service that will be a benefit to both our subscribers and advertisers. Subscribers will be able to either opt in or opt out regarding this service. They decide if they want more information on a particular product or service. If they opt in, it is no longer push advertising, it is information gathering on the part of the subscriber and much more valuable to the advertiser."
"There are currently over 46,800 households in the cable TV subscriber base in the Champaign zone. These subscribers have very broad viewing habits and it makes it very difficult for an advertiser to determine, on their own, which network is best for their product. Because of our extensive investment in Neilson, Griffin, Comscore, Polk and other research firms, we are able to provide expert advice to our advertisers as to which network will best suit their demographic product focus. With this new Telescoping technology, we will be able to even better zero in on the right consumer who is in the market for our advertiser's product."
Comcast Spotlight is the advertising sales division of Comcast Cable where the focus is to put the power of on air, online and on demand media to work for local, regional and national advertisers. It is focused on moving industry forward in advanced technologies and innovative products to reach, engage and connect with audiences most effectively and efficiently.
