CHICAGO, IL, April 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) This summer in California's Bay Area, Q1 Productions will bring together representatives from key organizations both small and large, industry and academic, to discuss trends, forecasts and how to most effectively partner in the life sciences. Companies are always attempting to create and execute successful strategies from end to end to manage and overcome current market conditions. The pharmaceutical and biotech industries are faced with challenges like patent expirations, the increasingly lengthy time-to-market process and the need to fully stretch the amount of funding available. These manufacturers are adjusting their big picture and realizing they must look outside of their own companies in the pursuit of the development and commercialization of products as well as their quest for fulfillment of pipelines and rounding out portfolios. Large companies are finding themselves reaching out to small companies' R&D, and small companies often gain momentum through the use of large companies' funding and greater sales and marketing capability to get their products to market.
In pursuing pharmaceutical and biotech alliances, companies need to be skilled in determining and capitalizing on most valuable opportunities, structuring creative, collaborative deals and maximizing available funding. The Partnerships and Alliance Management program will discuss developing acumen in these areas with presentations on topics like international partnerships and strategic alliances, funding strategies - corporate venture funds vs. venture capital and exploring and analyzing opportunities for nontraditional alliances. Programming also features two tracks - one specific to smaller companies and early stage alliances, and the other specific to large companies and later stage alliances - to provide attendees with tailored conference takeaways.
Q1 Productions will host organizations of varied size, stage of development, resources and areas of expertise to share and learn from one another with interactive conference sessions, panels and case studies. The two-day agenda is complemented with several opportunities to network with industry peers, speakers and service providers. Participants will come together for the event over July 19th and 20th in the Bay, the hotbed of start-up, growing pharmaceutical and biotech business. Presenters to include: Abbott Biotech Ventures, Astex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., AstraZeneca, Cooley LLP, Eisai, Gilead Sciences, Immunomedics, Inc., Latham & Watkins LLP, Merck, Novartis, Shire, Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Pepscan Therapeutics, Pfizer, SR One, Takeda Pharmaceuticals International, Tragara Pharmaceuticals and The University of California, San Francisco
