Legacy Palm Beach Magazine Names Trial Attorney John Howe Of Lesser, Lesser, Landy & Smith, PLLC One Of "South Florida's 25 Most Powerful Black Professionals"

BOCA RATON, FL, April 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) Lesser, Lesser, Landy & Smith, PLLC (LLL&S) is pleased to announce that trial attorney John Howe, who serves "Of Counsel" to the firm, has been named one of "South Florida's 25 Most Powerful Black Professionals" by Legacy Palm Beach Magazine ("Legacy"). The recognition will be featured in the April/May 2012 issue of Legacy that will be inserted on Monday, April 30th in the Business Monday section of the Palm Beach Post. Howe will be honored at a reception hosted by the publication in May.

Established in 2004, Legacy is a news/business publication serving South Florida's Black professional community with insightful articles and information on business, careers, politics, lifestyle, culture and social commentary. Through a distribution partnership with the Miami Herald and the Palm Beach Post, Legacy has a tri-county readership of 270,000 and publishes bi-monthly.

Howe, who currently serves as president of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, is an AV-rated trial attorney who has more than 13 years of experience representing victims and families devastated by serious and fatal injuries, individuals charged with crimes and individuals and companies involved in business disputes. As a former County Court Division Chief and Felony-Level Trial Attorney with the Public Defender's Office for the 15th Judicial Circuit, Howe represented numerous clients charged with serious criminal offenses. He currently represents citizens and organizations in civil and criminal matters in both state and federal courts.

Recently, Howe was:
• Named as a "Legal Trailblazer" by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
• Selected as one of South Florida's Most Accomplished Blacks in Law by the ICABA.
• Elected as the first African-American President of the Palm Beach County Bar Association (PBCBA). He is the founder and a past co-chair of the PBCBA's Committee for Diversity and Inclusion, served on its Historical and Judicial Relations Committee and chaired its Docent Training Program for lawyers and judges to teach Civics to students at the Palm Beach County 1916 Historical Courthouse.
• Appointed by Florida Bar President Scott Hawkins to serve on The Florida Bar's Constitutional Judiciary Committee. Howe has been a member of The Florida Bar Association for more than 13 years and has also served on its Member Outreach Committee.

Howe is a past president of Palm Beach Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a director-at-large for the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and an appointed member of the Palm Beach County Lawyer Professionalism Council. He also serves on the boards of Legal Aid Society of the Palm Beaches, Urban League of Palm Beach County and the Historical Society of the Palm Beaches.

Howe is also a member of the National Bar Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Hispanic Bar Association of the Palm Beaches, Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association, F. Malcolm Cunningham Bar Association, Palm Beach County Justice Association, Florida Blue Key and the Gator Club of the Palm Beaches. He is a volunteer/teacher in Florida Supreme Court Justice Teaching Program and a volunteer/supporter for Palm Beach Lakes High School Law Magnate Program.

Howe earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Loyola University and concurrently earned Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees at the University of Florida.
