SAN FRANCISCO, CA, April 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) Squad Music Group (SMG) recording artist Tab Danger featured in the book "A Dangerfeld Manifesto", has kick started a new campaign titled "I Was Born A Diabetic"

Diabetes mellitus (MEL-ih-tus), or simply, diabetes, is a group of diseases characterized by high blood glucose levels that result from defects in the body's ability to produce and/or use insulin.

Approximately 25.8 million children and adults in the United States—8.3% of the population—have diabetes. An additional 79 million are living with pre-diabetes with 1.9 million new cases reported in 2010. Tragically, complications can include heart disease & stroke, high blood pressure, blindness, Kidney disease & in many cases amputation.

BUT THERE IS HOPE. Early detection saves lives. Exercise and a proper diet have shown to make diabetes more manageable. There are new promising experiments with the artificial pancreas and researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago have developed an innovative technique that mixes the stem cells in vitro with a patient's immune system cells, "re-educating" the body to stop destroying its own pancreatic tissue.

Tab Danger, an artist with the Squad Music Group was born a Type 1 diabetic. He started a KickStarter campaign to make an album which will focus on using music to bring awareness to this growing problem to the youth of today whom are living with diabetes or are at risk. Tab Danger is pledging to donate a portion of the funds from his album to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). He is preparing a free mixtape titled #audiocoke as the first step in combining music & diabetes which will be released on June 7, 2012.

He will be performing on April 5, 2012 at Yoshi's San Francisco with America's Got Talent's Poplyfe and June 9, 2012 at the California Music Summit.
