ARVADA, CA, April 13, 2012 (Press-News.org) Pie Consulting & Engineering (Pie) is currently providing Mortenson Construction with building enclosure testing and quality assurance observation services on the historic Byron G. Rogers Federal Office Building Modernization project for the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).
Project Profile
Originally constructed in 1964, the 18-story 620,000 square-foot Byron G. Rogers Federal Office Building is home to 11 federal agencies in downtown Denver. The modernization project includes complete design and construction for upgrades to structural elements and all major building systems. The building upgrades should reduce energy use by more than 80 percent over current levels and attain LEED Platinum certification. The total project budget is $129,569,364 through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, with $4.85 million in ARRA funds allocated for the Byron G. Rogers Courthouse energy efficiency window upgrades.
Mortenson Construction is serving as the design-builder of the project with anticipated completion in June 2013.
Pie's scope of services to Mortenson includes the following:
Field water and air performance testing of existing and new assembly conditions
Quality assurance observations and reporting of air, water, thermal, and vapor envelope components and assemblies.
Pie's Building Science Group provides building enclosure commissioning (BECx) and exterior building envelope consulting services including: design development guidance, technical design review and analysis, shop drawing and submittal reviews, quality assurance observations, customized training programs, and specialized building performance testing and diagnostic services (whole building air barrier, water, thermal, wind uplift, etc.) for both the new and retrofit design and construction industries.
