With free prenatal consultations, Dr. Shukla gives expecting parents the opportunity to meet with the doctor who will be caring for their child over the next 20 years in order to establish a child's medical home.

Dr. Shukla, best pediatrician in Edison, offers in-office and telephonic prenatal consultations. At the prenatal visit a mother's obstetric history, prenatal history, and ultrasound results are discussed, in addition to identifying high-risk situations if any. A family support system will be created, and feeding plans will be discussed, including whether a mother expects to breast feed, or formula feed her baby.

"It is important that expectant mothers meet with us prior to their delivery so that they are fully prepared for taking care of their baby. At the free prenatal consultation we will go over everything parents will need to know prior to their bundle of joy being born. We want to make sure they are fully prepared for everything, and that they are comfortable with us and our facilities," said Dr. Nimisha Shukla, pediatrician in Woodbridge, NJ.

In addition, Dr. Shukla, Edison, NJ pediatrician, will also discuss newborn screening and hearing screening tests, family genetic history, and circumcision. Safety and anticipatory guidance including car seats, smoking, supine sleeping position to prevent SIDS, and appropriate crib accessories will also be discussed at this prenatal visit to help parents become well-versed in caring for their baby prior to the birth.

Dr. Shukla, Woodbridge, NJ pediatrician, will even go over a schedule of visits needed during the first year, in addition to a schedule for required immunizations. Office hours and how the parents can get in touch with Dr. Shukla during the day, and even after hours and coverage during vacation times will also be discussed.
