DUBLIN, IRELAND, May 11, 2012 (Press-News.org) Nationwide UK (Ireland), a branch of Nationwide Building Society, is today expanding its savings offering with the introduction of a range of sterling savings accounts for Irish residents.
Three sterling accounts are being launched for existing and new customers - an Easy Access Savings Account, a 6 Month Fixed Rate Savings Account and a 12 Month Fixed Rate Savings Account.
The Easy Access Sterling Savings Account: The interest rate offered is 1.00% gross p.a./AER* (variable). Six free withdrawals are permitted between 1st April and 31st March each year (subsequent withdrawals are allowed, but will incur a 30 day interest charge on the amount withdrawn).
The 6 Month Fixed Rate Sterling Savings Account: The interest rate offered is 0.63% gross p.a./1.25% AER*. Early closure of the account is permitted but will result in a 90 day interest charge on the total balance.
The 12 Month Fixed Rate Sterling Savings Account: The interest rate offered is 1.50% gross p.a./AER*. Early closure of the account is permitted but will result in a 90 day interest charge on the total balance.

Minimum deposit: GBP10,000
Maximum deposit: GBP2 million
A maximum of four account holders are permitted

Initial deposits to Nationwide UK (Ireland)'s sterling savings accounts can be made by cheque or electronic transfer. As with all Nationwide UK (Ireland) savings accounts there is a 14 day cooling off period.
Nationwide UK (Ireland) now offers five Euro savings products to Irish savers; an Easy Access Savings Account and four Fixed Rate Savings Accounts (6 months, 12 months, 24 Months, 36 Months) and three Sterling savings products: an Easy Access Savings Account and two Fixed Rate Savings Accounts (6 month, 12 months).
