LEXINGTON, KY, May 11, 2012 (Press-News.org) Fi360, an organization dedicated to upholding fiduciary standards, has named Unified Trust Founder & CEO Gregory Kasten as the winner of their 2012 fi360 article contest for his paper titled 'Creating Tangible Value in Your Fiduciary Practice: Combining Fiduciary Best Practices with Actuarial Implementation Can Consistently Improve 401(k) Participant Outcomes.'
Dr. Kasten was presented with the award at the fi360 National Conference in Chicago on April 26. The article, in its entirety, will be published in an upcoming edition of AdvisorOne Magazine.
According to fi360 the article must help "fiduciaries better understand and perform their roles or advocate for higher standards of care." For Dr. Kasten, fiduciary isn't a term, it's a way of life. He is the founder of Unified Trust Company, the first trust company in the nation to be certified by Centre for Fiduciary Excellence (CEFEX) for Fiduciary Best Practices for Investment Advisors.
"As a fiduciary our dedication is always to our investors. We are legally and ethically responsible to put our clients first and we must always use a "prudent expert" standard of care," said Kasten.
Over the years, Dr. Kasten has given dozens of lectures on fiduciary best practices to pension professionals and Federal banking regulators. He has published more than 75 papers on financial planning and investment-related topics in various financial and business journals; written two editions of the book Retirement Success; and in 2005
he co-authored the first place winning paper entitled: "Post Modern Portfolio Theory" and presented the paper at the Financial Planning Association national meeting. In 2011 Dr. Kasten was inducted into the Advisor Hall of Fame by Research Magazine.
