Sound Physicians Welcomes Senior Vice President of Physician Development, JD Fitz, MD

TACOMA, WA, May 14, 2012 (Press-News.org) Sound Physicians, a leading hospitalist organization focused on driving improvements in quality, satisfaction and financial performance of inpatient healthcare delivery, announces the addition of Senior Vice President of Physician Development JD Fitz, MD, FACP. The addition of Dr. Fitz to Sound Physicians marks a significant step toward delivering on the organization's goal of being at the forefront of developing physician leaders.

Dr. Fitz's career has been dedicated to leading and developing physician teams through clinical and administrative roles. Trained as an Internal Medicine physician, Dr. Fitz became one of the country's first hospitalists and hospitalist leader. In addition to his career in hospital medicine, his medical career includes private practice, managed care and military service. For the past five years, he has served as vice president of medical affairs at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital, part of one of the northwest's leading healthcare systems.

A graduate of Stanford University and the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine, he completed residency training at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. Subsequently, Dr. Fitz joined Group Health Cooperative, a managed care organization, where he established their Consulting Internal Medicine Department. He developed MultiCare's internal medicine division and later launched the health system's Inpatient Management and Consulting Service, which became the MultiCare Inpatient Service in 1999.

Dr. Fitz leads professional development for Sound Physicians' 500+ hospitalist physicians.
