LOS ANGELES, CA, May 17, 2012 (Press-News.org) Shirley You Jest! Book Awards upholds the belief that laughter can cure what ails 'ya. Presented by Liz D Publicity & Promotions, SYJ! honors books by self-published and traditionally published independent authors that "deliver the funny." The contest is open to fiction and non-fiction books that contain strong comedic and humorous elements. Both digital and print titles with 2011 and 2012 copyright dates are accepted June 1 - August 1, 2012. SYJ!'s panel of first round and finalist judges consists of well-read authors, humor writers, bloggers and book clubbers. Judging criteria include the quality of "the funny," story structure, literary content and writing style.

On National Author's Day (November 1, 2012), Shirley Awards will be presented to the top two entries in each fiction and non-fiction category. Winners receive exposure from SYJ! prize sponsors, such as author interviews, book reviews and social media mentions.
