CHARLESTON, SC, May 17, 2012 (Press-News.org) Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina talked to a group about the basics of estate planning at St. Andrews Regional Library in Charleston, SC on Thursday April 12th 2012. Attorney Guthrie spoke about the fundamentals of wills, probate court, living trusts, power of attorney, and getting everything organized. Evan Guthrie stressed the importance of planning an estate to protect families and individual assets. Attorney Guthrie had a handout that was distributed that covered the high points of his talk.
Mr. Guthrie's presentation lasted about an hour and had time for questions afterwards. Questions ranged from who to appoint as a personal representative or give power of attorney to if there is no trusted person in your life to how to prevent a non custodial biological parent from gaining custody of a child in case a parent dies. Attorney Guthrie was happy to be able to give back to the community by speaking at the library in a free legal information session. The St. Andrews Regional Library is part of the Charleston County Library system and performs a vital role to educate, inform, and help local citizens. Mr. Guthrie looked forward to coming back to the library in the future to make additional presentations.
