Fava Tea Company Wins at North American Tea Championship 2012 Ice Tea Class

Fava Tea Company, Wisconsin's top ranked independent loose tea retailer, took third place at the 2012 Ice Tea Class in the North American Tea Championship announced earlier today.

2012-05-17
APPLETON, WI, May 17, 2012 (Press-News.org) Fava Tea Company won third place with its exclusive Fava's Summer Black Tea Blend in the Black Tea—Flavored category of the competition; receiving the designation of a tea with superior characteristics. Another Fava Tea Company Black Tea, Fava's SpecialTEA Blend (available at Carmella's Italian Bistro in Appleton and Watt's Tea Room in Milwaukee), also scored well in the competition receiving the 'very good' designation of a tea with superior characteristics, but didn't take a top spot. A special award will be presented to Fava Tea Company during the World Tea Expo in July.

"We all at Fava Tea are very excited of our win with our black artisan ice tea—Fava's Summer Blend," says Bryan Stafford, Co-Owner of Fava Tea Company. "This win is even more special since the tea was created and blended right here in Wisconsin! We focused on using flavorful ingredients without the use of unnecessary artificial flavors or weighing it down with sugars. This creamy, citrus black tea blend perfect for any spring and summer day."

The North American Tea Championship is the largest independent competition in North America with nearly 250 different ice teas competing for the top spots. To choose the recipient of this award, the judging panel of professional cuppers assessed each submission through blind organoleptic analysis of the following characteristics: flavor, body, color, clarity, and balance. The ratings of each characteristic were then used to calculate an overall numerical value on a 100-point scale, and winners were determined by rank.

Fava Tea Company offers over 300 loose leaf and sachet tea with dozens of USDA Organic and Fair Trade Certified options in all major tea categories. All tea is hand packaged at the time of purchase starting at a single ounce or single group of nine sachets. Fava Tea Company also offers Tea Wares and unique complementary products and also offers freshly brewed tea. Fava Tea Company has two retail locations, 706 N. Casaloma Drive in Appleton and 5012 S. 74th Street in Greenfield, and online at http://www.FavaTea.com.
