PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA, May 18, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Asia Pacific Mobile Learning Initiative Recognitions 2012, honoring individuals and organizations passionate about promoting mobile learning, were announced at the GoMobile InOvation Awards Night, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, recently.
Dato' Joseph Salang, the Deputy Minister of Information, Communication and Culture, officiated the GoMobile inOvation Malaysia Awards Party. The APAC Mobile Learning Initiative Recognitions were presented by Wemel Cumavoo, co-Founder of the Asia Pacific Mobile Learning & Edutainment Advisory Panel (APACMLEAP) and Kamil Othman, Vice President & Director, Creative Multimedia Cluster at the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC).
"Since the inception of the APAC Mobile Learning Initiative Recognitions in 2008, we are amazed by the quality and quantity of entries that come in year after year. It is really encouraging to see companies and academia taking initiatives to leverage on mobile devices, technologies, applications and services to develop and deliver access to educational and training materials efficiently, irrespective of where the user is located and to complement current learning methods be it in developed or developing countries", said Wemel.
Mobile Learning provides a unique opportunities for those involved in learning be it academic, human resource training, consumer education, lifelong learning or lifestyle learning to enable learning anytime anywhere, he added.
The following were the recipients of the Asia Pacific Mobile Learning Initiatives Recognitions 2012
Mobile ICT Sdn Bhd, Malaysia for their effort to promote Maths learning via game format on mobile phones via mobile learning games
Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ), Malaysia for using mobile and web based learning programs as part of their Human Resource training initiatives.
Pixatel Systems Inc.,USA, for their contribution to bridge the digital divide by creating innovative learning, gaming, and productivity applications that are optimized to run on all Android smartphones and tablets.
Super Technologies Foundation,USA, for their Rehan School.com, mobile based education system, an effort to enhance employment opportunities and increase national literacy rate.
Ignite Asia Co., Ltd.,Thailand for their 'Trading Tycoon', an edutainment game application that is blended with real world (information), providing the knowledge and education in an enjoyable way.
This year Merit Certificates were introduced to further encourage mobile learning initiatives in the region and were given to the following 3 companies:
Leadcom Technologies Sdn Bhd for their 'iLeap' platform that provides an interactive and blended learning environment giving the learner an instant access to learning artifacts.
SriSeshaa Technologies LLC for their 'seShkool' an innovative virtual content delivery platform that integrates the Web and Mobile channels.
LimKokWing University of Creative Technology for their initiative to develop and encourage growth of mobile developers by setting up the necessary labs and facilities for mobile developers.
