LOS ANGELES, CA, May 21, 2012 (Press-News.org) With a new single spinning on airwaves all across the country, and just in time for her new EP to hit stores next week, teenage singer/songwriter Justine Dorsey secured two nominations for Best Female Singer/Songwriter and Hot Adult Contemporary Single at the esteemed 2012 LA Music Awards.
With well over six hundred applicants, Justine stood out amongst the pack and was honored with nominations in two of the night's most competitive categories, Hot Adult Contemporary Single and Best Female Singer/Songwriter. Justine knows that Female Singer/Songwriter category is the most competitive category of any award for a female artist and states, "It feels good to know that people think I stand out from the crowd!" And stand out from the crowd she does, even catching the eye of multi- Grammy Award winning producer & singer-songwriter Randy Sharp, who has been guiding and mentoring Justine through her recent musical journeys and served as her co-producer on her new EP, Unsaid. Randy explains, "It's rare that an artist can share their musical take on the world in a completely believable, unaffected, and infectious way. Justine does just that. Her songs are clearly reflective of an American teenager's angst, humor and innocence, but somehow she does it with the wisdom and polish that only accomplished songwriters many times her age are still searching for. It's just great when award shows get it right".
Justine is only sixteen years old and has already recorded a full album before her EP. Her current EP Unsaid exudes music from such an honest place in a young girl's heart. "I'm not going to write about things that don't affect me, or moments I haven't experienced. And when your music truly affects you, listeners can feel that." Steven Sharp, one of music's biggest promoters said, "It did not surprise me that Justine Dorsey was nominated for the LA Music Awards' Hot AC Single and Female Singer/Songwriter of the Year. Justine is the real deal. A talent like this only comes around once in a generation. Her songs and her voice are undeniable at first listen. One spin and you're in on Justine Dorsey."
Unsaid is set for release on May 22 and will be available on iTunes and Amazon.
Upcoming shows are listed on Justine's Reverb Nation page: http://www.reverbnation.com/justinedorseyand new videos will be coming soon to her YouTube Page http://www.youtube.com/justinedorseymusic

Ultra-short laser pulses for science and industry
2012-05-21
Laser technology uses light. Light can be rapidly and precisely deflected, shaped and focused. If we pulse laser light and reduce pulse duration more and more, the laser tool works even more precisely. A benefit: The material being processed heats up less and less. High-power, ultra-short pulses, then, are the ideal solution for medical applications, in brain surgery for instance, as the cerebral membrane is not damaged. Or for removing tumor tissue thereby conserving the surrounding tissue and blood vessels. This precision technology is also valued in the processing of ...

Functional coatings from the plasma nozzle
2012-05-21
When manufacturing products, the coating technology is a key innovation driver for almost all areas of daily life – for example, for making scratch-proof displays for smart phones or anti-bacterial surfaces in refrigerators. Other coatings protect components from corrosion or aging, for example in a solar cell module or a car engine, without the end user noticing their existence. In industry today, wet chemical processes or vacuum plasma processes are primarily used for coating applications. Both have drawbacks. Vacuum units are expensive, limited to smaller components ...

Improved lubrication without oil
2012-05-21
Metalworking plays a key role in industry. Drilling, milling, turning and grinding operations all use lubricants to prevent work pieces and tools from overheating and from excess wear. Standard lubricants today are based on mineral oil. This has drawbacks: fossil mineral oils come from finite resources, transport relatively little heat away from the work piece, are harmful to health and are flammable. All of this calls for extreme technical efforts, for occupational safety, fire safety and disposal, for example. So there's a need for alternative lubricants.
