COLUMBUS, OH, May 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) This July, the CW will put a spotlight on technology by featuring gadget close-ups from The Laptop Guy and the 2012 CW Star, Kaitlin. Weekend movie presentations will feature more than great flicks by showcasing the newest gadgets and helpful tech tips on topics such as online security, Facebook privacy, and how to best protect iPhones and iPads from accidental damage.
Developing and broadcasting a series of content rich branded segments is a first for both companies and demonstrates a growing trend of creating synergy between traditional advertising and social marketing. "In the age of social marketing, we don't believe it's enough to put out boilerplate :30 commercials" explains Tonya Feit, Marketing Director of The Laptop Guy. "We share common interest with our customers and the technology close-ups are a great way to use television to spark conversation that we can expand upon online and in-store."
The CW Cinema Gadget Close-ups will feature Todd Feit, aka The Laptop Guy and the 2012 CW Star Kaitlin in 60 second segments with an animated intro. "We feel the Laptop Guy's technical expertise combines with the brand's friendly persona to make geek speak appealing to a broad audience," explains CW Representative Tracey Thrush. "We believe that our Weekend Cinema viewers will find the information and playful exchange between Kaitlin, the Laptop Guy and brief cameos from Zoe, the Laptop Guy canine companion, very appealing."
The series begins in July and will continue through Summer 2012. Topics covered during the six close-ups will engage everyone from the do-it-yourself tech enthusiast to the casual user and will be complimented by the opportunity to "Ask the Laptop Guy" on both the CW and Laptop Guy Facebook pages.
