New Chicago Start-up Unites Stylish Home Interiors and Sustainable Living

CHICAGO, IL, May 24, 2012

bethie b. LLC, a Chicago-based start-up, is an online boutique that allows clients and small businesses to buy and sell premiere recycled interiors, furnishings and art. The company launched last week at Built in Chicago's monthly event held in the recently opened 1871, located in the Merchandise Mart.

Founded in 2011, bethie b. is quickly positioning itself as a premiere source for local, recycled homegoods in Chicago. The company's mission is to promote sustainable, stylish living and local small business. It's also available in New York, Austin, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle.

According to the U.S. EPA, furniture accounted for 9.8 million tons (4.1%) of household waste in 2009 and is the number one least-recycled item in a household. By 2015, it is estimated that we will spend $121.7 billion to re-furbish our homes with new furniture.

bethie b. allows clients to easily sell their quality interior items without the hassle of consignment stores or online auctions. Clients simply upload a description and a few photos of the items they wish to sell, and once approved, bethie b. advertises the homegoods for 60 days on their site. All items are reviewed prior to being listed to provide buyers a one-stop destination to find unique and affordable home furnishings - all in their area.

"Think of it as an upscale and curated Craigslist - specifically for home interiors. It provides an incredibly easy way to find amazing furniture in your area while also promoting sustainable living," says owner Meg Goldberg. "Our clients are stylish, savvy shoppers who want quality items, yet realize they don't have to pay retail or shop at a big-box store to find exactly what they're looking for."

bethie b. was inspired by her mom, Beth, who, with more than 30 years of interior decorating experience, passed along her love of repurposing items, finding quality pieces, discovering beauty in recycled artifacts, throwing out the decorator rule book and loving the search for the unexpected - both for your home and in life.

A portion of all listing fee proceeds will be donated to a new charity partner each month. For a limited time, the $10 listing fee is currently waived for new clients.

In addition to online advertising services, they offer custom pillows for clients and marketing services for local interior boutiques.
