The Figurative Art Exhibition Winning Artists Announced: Leon Sarantos Receives Honorable Mention

John R. Math, Director of Light Space & Time Gallery, announced that Leon Sarantos won an Honorable Mention Award in the Figurative Art Exhibition. His winning entry was his abstract, figurative painting, "Young Lady With Long Pipe."

JUPITER, FL, June 08, 2012 (Press-News.org) John R. Math, Director of the Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery recently announced that Leon Sarantos won an Honorable Mention Award in the Figurative Art Exhibition. Leon's winning entry was for his abstract, figurative painting, "Young Lady With Long Pipe."

In order to be considered and selected for this event, artists had to compete in the Figurative International Art Competition. The competition was conducted in the month of May 2012. Entries were received and judged from 216 artists from 19 countries around the world. Leon was among the top ten winning artists who had their art chosen for this exhibit. This art exhibition is now online and can be viewed at http://www.lightspacetime.com.

The painting can also be viewed at Paul Henry's Art Gallery in downtown Hammond, Indiana, which represents Leon Sarantos' art.

Leon Sarantos originally grew up in the Midwest and currently lives in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. He obtained a Bachelor of Architecture degree in the College of Arts and Architecture at the University of Michigan. As an architectural student, he studied drawing, composition, rendering and painting. While working as an architect in California, he studied art at local colleges, especially oil painting. He continued to learn as a self-taught artist and spent several winters in Mexico painting local scenes.

After moving to Chicago, Leon continued his work in architecture and art, and studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago and at Hyde Park Art Center. He has exhibited his work extensively in solo and group shows on a national basis.
