Submarine Force Museum Hosts Free Children's Activities

The Submarine Force Museum & USS Nautilus now offers free "Dive into Summer" children's activities every Saturday.

GROTON, CT, June 22, 2012 (Press-News.org) To celebrate summer vacation, the Submarine Force Museum & USS Nautilus now offers free children's activities every Saturday. The "Dive into Summer" program features kid-friendly activities including arts and crafts, science experiments, water balloon fun, torpedo building and more. All activities take place from 10 am - 1 pm at the Submarine Force Museum & USS Nautilus located at One Crystal Lake Road, Groton CT 06340. All "Dive in to Summer" events are free and registration is not required.

The next "Dive into Summer" event will take place on Saturday, June 23 and will feature a Razzle-Dazzle Camouflage activity. Children will learn about World War II submarine camouflage and decorate a giant paper submarine together. Each child will get to create their own piece of "camouflage" to add to the patchwork submarine. Originally established in 1955 by General Dynamics Corporation as "The Submarine Library", the Submarine Force Museum & USS Nautilus was donated to the United States Navy in 1964.
