2012-06-29
CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA, June 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) Joyce Middleton, best selling author, announced the release of Volume 1, "Hamburger & Hot Dog Backyard BBQ" in her new cookbook series, "American Classic Digest," which features vintage recipes and a full menu for an authentic American barbecue circa 1950's.

"I wanted to feature special family recipes that people would want to refer to and make for many years to come" said Joyce Middleton. "To begin this series, I spent over a month with my Mother, going over recipes that have been handed down for generations. Once such recipe for homemade chocolate ice cream, dates to the early 1900's."

The book reviews have been positive:

"... easy to follow and easy to make. They are true blue American classics and full of flavor."

"...My next BBQ, I am going to make good use of this book. Because of the pictures, and the detailed recipes, I give this book 5 stars."

"... Love the Cole Slaw recipe and want to try the ideas of other recipes this year for our backyard entertaining for the fourth of July."

"...I absolutely love this book. If you are a baby boomer, this will bring back fond memories."

Inside this cookbook digest, you'll find a complete menu from the appetizer to the two desserts, which complete the meal. Along the way are the stories Joyce provides on how her family lived in Los Angeles during the 50's, including the music and how they served their hamburgers and hot dogs.

"I have a cabinet full of cookbooks with so many recipes, it takes forever just to find one that I can make without running to the market" said Joyce. "Today, our basic American recipes have grown to include many herbs and spices many people don't stock on a regular basis. Planning a barbecue should be fun and you can do that with this basic menu with all the trimmings that includes tips for make-ahead preparations."

Joyce adds, "Have a good old-fashioned American barbecue that everyone can enjoy this summer, like we used to have!"
