HOLLYWOOD, FL, June 30, 2012 (Press-News.org) Juanita E. Springate, Head Start Center-Based Coordinator for The Family Conservancy, has been selected as an Executive Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Juanita E. Springate's commitment to excellence in Education.
Springate began her career in teaching in 1982 for a small faith-based program. For over thirty years she's worked in various early childhood programs, both teaching and consulting with program directors.
For the past seven years, Springate has served as a Head Start center-based coordinator for an early childhood agency, where she helps program directors create the systems necessary to obtain and sustain quality programs. In her thirty years in the early childhood field, she has touched the lives of children in many different ways. She taught 3-5 year-olds in the Kansas City, Missouri District Head Start program for eleven years, where she also served as Head Start education coordinator. She directed a faith-based early childhood program for children birth to school-age, and served as the director of Children's Ministries for that church. While employed by an early childhood agency in Overland Park, Kansas, she planned and delivered training for early childhood programs and consulted with early childhood programs to help them obtain NAEYC accreditation and higher star ratings on the local Quality Rating System.
Springate also serves as an associate adjunct professor for the early childhood department at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park. She's taught several courses to early childhood educators. She presently teaches the Administration in Early Childhood Programs courses to potential directors. She also teaches Leadership in Early Childhood Programs to area program directors.
"I am passionate about the early childhood field because I can affect and influence teachers to love, care for, and help young children learn to think and problem solve," Springate said.
Springate holds a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Curriculum and Instruction and is a certified West Education Infant/Toddler Trainer. She's met reliability standards for the infant/toddler, early childhood, and family child care environmental rating scales and has completed a grid that compares Head Start Performance Standards with NAEYC accreditation and Kansas City's Qualistar Quality Rating System. She's a ten-year member of Mid-America AEYC, an affiliate agency of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, where she also served as president for two years. She holds two Outstanding Extended Service Awards through Mid-America AEYC, one in 2005 for accomplishments as NAEYC accreditation chair, and one in 2010 for work done as president to increase member-driven activities within the organization.
