HILLSBORO, OR, July 02, 2012 (Press-News.org) MyBinding.com announced today their acquisition of a new corporate headquarters in Hillsboro, OR. With more than 85,000 square feet of warehouse and office, the new facility will allow the company to more than double operations while better serving its customers.
"Our focus as a company is always on the customer," said Mike Ware, owner and CEO of MyBinding.com. "Bringing everything together will enable us to better provide for our customers."
Founded in 1998, MyBinding.com has long-term roots in Hillsboro. Over the years, the company has grown from a handful of employees to a full staff of close to 60 professionals. With this impressive expansion, MyBinding.com has outgrown four different facilities. Moving into this new complex will increase both warehouse and office space. The result will be improved processes and streamlined communication between departments, all designed to enhance the customer's experience. With a fully modernized warehouse, the new site will hold a larger selection of inventory ready to ship. The resulting increase in stock on-hand will help orders process and ship faster.
"Currently as a company, we ship 96% of our orders within 24 hours," said Ware. "We'd like to get that as close to 100% as possible, and the new warehouse will be outfitted to work toward that goal."
After a three-year search for a new site, MyBinding.com landed in the Hawthorn Farms Industrial Park, located in the heart of Hillsboro. The expansive office once hosted Soloflex, a company known for revolutionizing the home fitness industry. The Park is also home to big brands such as Yahoo and Intel. MyBinding.com briefly considered moving out of the area, then decided that Washington County's way of life fit their company. MyBinding.com is invested in their community and supports many local organizations such as sports teams and various school programs.
"I believe companies need to be responsible to their communities," Ware stated. "We have a belief in repaying the community in which we live."
In line with their community-based location, the company has hired local design consultant Debbie Wood to coordinate their renovations. Owner of Red Sheep Designs, Wood has the task of creating a functional and beautiful workspace in the office portion of the building, which can accommodate up to 125 people. The design elements are professional and streamlined while allowing for further company growth. Part of those renovations, which are expected to take six months to a year, include a complete energy audit. Energy Trust of Oregon is also working with MyBinding.com to make their new building as green as possible. Energy efficient upgrades as well as a more efficient heating and air will be installed.
"We are working closely with the State of Oregon Energy Trust to reduce our footprint as much as possible," Ware stated. "It's another small way we can improve the community around us."

Want bigger plants? Get to the root of the matter
2012-07-01
Plant scientists have imaged and analyzed, for the first time, how a potted plant's roots are arranged in the soil as the plant develops. In this study, to be presented at the Society for Experimental Biology meeting on 30th June, the team has also found that doubling plant pot size makes plants grow over 40% larger.
From their 3-D MRI root scans, the researchers observed that potted plants quickly extend their roots to the pot's walls. It is likely that the plants use their roots to 'sense' the size of the pot, although the details of how the roots relay the message ...

A new study of 1,400 Medicare-aged patients reinforces CT colonography as a screening tool for colon cancer, adding to the continued debate over Medicare coverage of the procedure.

"Our study answers several of the questions Medicare asked about this procedure," said Brooks Cash, MD, one of the authors of the study. The study found that the percentage of patients that would ...
Spending on children's health rising faster than adults over past 4 years, says report
2012-07-01

This is the first such analysis to track changes in spending, prices, ...
