Bigger & Better: Black, White & Bling Gala 2010

Second annual event helps feed, educate local children

2010-10-01
GARNER, NC, October 01, 2010 (Press-News.org) Bigger and better is the plan for this year's Black, White & Bling Gala, hosted by the Garner Mid-Day Rotary Club Foundation, to benefit local youth.

Set for Saturday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., the 2010 gala promises an exciting evening of dining, dancing and more, and a Who's Who gathering of attendees from the Triangle and beyond.

"The goal of the gala is to raise awareness of the needs of local children, and raise funds to help meet those needs," said Gala Chair Julie Clark. "Last year's gala raised more than $13,000 and this year's event will be even bigger and better! Bring out your best bling, all for a great cause."

A new venue, the Grand Marquise Ballroom in Garner, sets the stage for the black-tie gala, which features live and silent auctions, door prizes, and chances to win a 1.08-carat round brilliant diamond donated by Swift's Fine Jewelry of Knightdale, or $2,500 cash.

Music will be provided by DJ Mike Morse of G105FM's Bob & The Showgram. Title sponsors of the gala include Swift's Fine Jewelry and Grand Marquise Ballroom.

Also new this year, the live auction will offer five items of significant value, including a Duke basketball autographed by the 2010 NCAA Championship Team, and a Frigidaire front-load washer and dryer set.

The 10-item silent auction will include an Angus Barn gift basket, and door prizes will feature a Sirius satellite radio, jewelry, gift cards and more.

Proceeds of the gala benefit local children via the Backpack Buddies program, which supplies weekly allotments of food to underprivileged children in Garner elementary schools. This year, the Garner Mid-Day Rotary Club has increased the number of schools it assists.

Additional gala proceeds will support the Club's scholarship programs for Garner Magnet High School students.

Gala tickets are $75 each and include dinner and chances to win the diamond or cash prize. Tax-deductible sponsorships are also available, beginning at $500. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit http://www.garnerblackwhiteandblinggala.org or call Clark at (919) 271-2618.
