FORT WAYNE, IN, October 01, 2010
Groundbreaking opportunity presents itself to local and regional comics. With little to laugh or smile about, with the country involved in two wars, high unemployment and an economy struggling to get back on track, most of us could use a sidesplitting stimulus. That's where Mike Moses Presents The Pro-Am Comedy Series comes in. By providing a professional club and stage setting for people who have proven themselves in the comedic arena, The Pro-Am Comedy shows spotlights those ready to tackle emcee work or are ready to headline. So if you want to grab a few friends for a good time and to see the hottest and really hilarious new comedians, join us for some quality entertainment. Check out these up and coming stars now! Scheduled for every fourth Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., the featured comics compete for cash prizes. A panel of three judges and the audience determines the winners each week. The categories include:
Best promotional work $50
Top Emcee $50
Top Feature $100

Many alternate venues have attempted to do comedy shows and many of them have been painful to both perform in and watch as a fan. If you have ever been to a real comedy club and then decided to go to Bubba's Billiards, Jimmy's Sports Bar & Bowling Alley or Dashy's Pizza Parlor to see comedy, you notice the striking difference. For starters, it's hard to get your punch line across performing in a bowling alley when someone strikes. The same holds true when performing in a sports bar and someone is watching a game, they get excited over a score or blown official's call. For the aspiring comic there are rarely professional comics or industry insiders in attendance at such venues to help the comics polish their craft. Poetically speaking, you wouldn't go to your dentist to have your colon examined, so why would you go to Dusty's Wing and Rib shack for comedy?
