SIMUL8 Corporation Announces New CEO

BOSTON, MA, July 09, 2012 (Press-News.org) SIMUL8 Corporation's Board of Directors recently announced that Laura Reid, their Chief Operating Officer has been appointed to the role of CEO. She will be taking over from Mark Elder who has moved from CEO to chairing the board of directors. These leadership appointments are effective immediately and follow Mark's decision to retire.

Laura not only brings years of relevant industry experience to this role, but a palpable commitment to simulation and SIMUL8 Corporation. This commitment and dedication has been visible by her drive to establish SIMUL8 in healthcare, selecting a new European headquarters office due to rapid growth, and her success in exiting SIMUL8 Corporation's VCs.

"In the last 5 years or so, I've noticed that most things I delegate to the younger people in the company quickly become a big success, so it's time to step aside and let the people with new visions for SIMUL8 drive the whole company forward" said Mark Elder. "Laura's time as Chief Operating Officer is a good example of this, she engineered exiting our VCs, so we are independent again - but the whole management team has made huge steps toward their respective parts of the business and making simulation mainstream".

Laura said she's not planning on big changes, "We will continue on our journey to get our message to process improvers, move into new markets, and continue our successful expansion into healthcare, all by taking a customer and market driven approach to product development". Laura added, "Mark Elder has been CEO of SIMUL8 Corporation since it was founded in 1994 and I don't intend to suddenly make a lot of changes - we are very well established and Mark's vision has been a key part of making that happen".

Laura Reid joined SIMUL8 Corporation in 2002 with great theoretical and practical knowledge at her back. With a Postgraduate degree in Operational Research and a background as a Simulation Consultant for North Glasgow University Hospitals NHS Trust Laura has been a huge asset to SIMUL8. Laura's career has progressed from Director of Services to COO, a position she held for three years, during which time she drove enviable results during a difficult economic climate. It's important to note Laura was also the project lead for the team who created Scenario Generator (the first and only simulation software tool used internationally for strategic planning within health and social care).

The appointment of Laura to CEO was a natural fit, and Mark stated he feels "very confident handing over the day to day running of the company to someone with commitment to simulation, and the experience and leadership to move the company forward".
