CARLSBAD, CA, July 11, 2012 (Press-News.org) Nutrilys Del Mar in San Diego is helping people keep their skin safe this summer with its natural and organic marine-based supplements. While families flock to the beach or settle into their poolside lounge chairs, they're finding the best solar defense is a tri-combination of sunscreen, shark liver oil and salmon oil supplements.
"Applying sunscreen every few hours is challenging and this is why so many families still return back home or to their hotel room with sunburns," says Thierry Lerond, founder and chief executive officer of Nutrilys Del Mar. "And being protected from the sun for extended periods of time while doing water sports can be an impossible feat."
Nutrilys Del Mar's marine-based supplements, clinically tested in French and Swiss clinics since 1995, promote healthier skin. Lerond says incorporating his company's fish oil dietary supplements offers an extra solar defense against harmful ultra violet rays.
"Sunburns are not only painful but they damage the skin," says Lerond. "Inevitably, this spurs premature signs of skin aging such as fine lines and wrinkles, and in some cases, is the root cause of skin cancer."
Nutrilys Del Mar's Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon Oil, rich with omega 3 fatty acids, may help reduce the risk of sunburns, and even more importantly, different forms of skin cancers such as melanoma.
Shark liver oil has a couple ingredients that serve as a great sun protector. The first is its pure and natural source of alkylglycerols, a powerhouse immune system booster and antioxidant.
"Alkylglycerols have a long list of health benefits and one of them acts as a skin healer in cases where clients have noticed decreased incidence of sunburn when they take it orally or even apply it topically," says Lerond. "I also know of clients who applied topical shark liver oil to sunburns and it offered immediate pain relief."
Also in shark liver oil is an extract called squalene, a byproduct of vitamin A. Squalene has been used in skin care products for decades. Like alkylglycerols, squalene enhances the immune system through its antioxidant properties either orally, topically or both.
"Squalene neutralizes free radicals and works its way easily into the skin which helps protect it against ultraviolet rays," says Lerond.
Although shark liver oil and other natural skin supplements are a potent defense against ultraviolet rays, he said, applying sunscreen regularly is still extremely important. While summertime serves up fun in the sun, Nutrilys Del Mar is there to keep everyone "skin safe."
