BIO-UV, a firm specializing in UV disinfection, innovates with its new system BIO-SEA, destined to limit the spread of invasive Species generated by ballast water exchange.BIO-UV, based in south of France, is the first French company to engage in the ballast water treatment market.

BIO-SEA BWT System
BIO-SEA offers a fine filtration system that is highly effective during ballasting operations. The pumped water is automatically disinfected by UV-C before discharging back to the water.
According to G8 Guideline BIO-SEA has successfully passed all environmental testing and Land-based tests. 2012 is dedicated to tests on board; currently BIO-UV is testing the ballast water treatment system on two containerships of a French fleet: one on Asian routes, the second on transatlantic routes. The whole certification process (Type Approval) is monitored by Bureau Veritas.
