PLEASANT GROVE, UT, July 12, 2012 (Press-News.org) Millions of teens are living with ADD/ADHD and a short attention span. Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD) is a neurological disorder that not only impacts attention span, but often causes challenges with impulse control and sustaining healthy relationships are seen as well. Saving the day for anyone living with ADD/ADHD, a new "Actions Hero" app focused on time management is being developed through an Indiegogo fundraising project.
The Indiegogo A funding platform for creative projects, on Indiegogo is accepting donations of any amount as well as sponsorships for the Actions Hero app for ADD/ADHD at Indiegogo.com/ActionsHero. It also offers the unique option for the donation of an app to a Teen in need. The apps will be distributed through the Life Enhancement Center, a Utah-based center focusing on positive treatment approaches.
"A key aspect of this project is to support kids living with ADD/ADHD that need a hand up- where would you be now if as a Teen you had been able to set and met your goals without Mom looking over your shoulder? ," said Kimber Nelson, the developer of the app as well as a certified ADHD life coach. "Self motivation is the "end all be all" factor in where you end up in life- and with this App Teens will be leading the charge!."
Dr Jason King from the Life Enhancement Center has reviewed the App and gives the opinion that the Actions Hero App covers these key areas:
- Attention Management Skills- offering an organized menu addressing life domains (e.g., career and finance) for enhanced attention management
- Self-Control - The use of immediate task monitoring and customizable rewards, such as gaming spoils, draws upon operant behavior conditioning principles to promote self-awareness, self-monitoring, and self-reinforcement of ADHD symptoms.
- Social Skills Training- The Power Grid contains domains of "My Development" and "Relationships" which promote user social skills training for enhanced life functioning and healthy interpersonal relationships
The funds raised for Actions Hero through Indiegogo will be used for development and launch of the new app.
