Plastic Surgeons Comment on Pre-wedding Cosmetic Surgery

The plastic surgeons at Kaufman & Clark Plastic Surgery discuss the trend of turning to cosmetic procedures when a wedding is on the horizon. They explain how they ensure proper healing for procedures such as liposuction in the Sacramento area.

2012-07-19
FOLSOM, CA, July 19, 2012 (Press-News.org) Dr. David Kaufman and Dr. Christa Clark of Kaufman & Clark Plastic Surgery often see soon-to-be-wed patients opt for cosmetic procedures such as liposuction at their Sacramento area surgery center and medical spa.

These procedures can help patients contour their bodies and appear more youthful, giving them the chance to look and feel their finest on their big day. Dr. Kaufman and Dr. Clark take extra care to inform patients that although cosmetic surgery and treatments can maximize their outer beauty when they tie the knot, they need to plan ahead. The betrothed should make their appointments for treatment well in advance of the wedding so they will have plenty of time to heal before the event.

"I've been amazed by the number of people who make appointments for cosmetic procedures during wedding season," says Dr. Kaufman, who has performed procedures ranging from bariatric surgery to breast augmentation for Sacramento patients in preparation for their weddings.

"Brides, in particular, want to glow on their wedding day, and we have the means to make that happen. I just caution them to be realistic about the healing time involved in some of these procedures. Anyone considering pre-matrimonial cosmetic procedures should schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon well in advance."

The desire to look one's best when walking down the aisle isn't limited to the bride, Dr. Kaufman says.

"Grooms can benefit from pre-wedding cosmetic procedures as well, even if they choose non-surgical treatments such as BOTOX . Sacramento has almost year-round sun, so a number of my patients are men who've developed more lines and wrinkles than they would care to have by working outdoors. Even if he won't admit it to his groomsmen, the groom wants to look his best at the wedding too. But even treatments such as BOTOX Cosmetic, which has a quick recovery time in general, shouldn't take place too close to the actual day, just to be safe. BOTOX can sometimes cause a bit of swelling or bruising, and you want to make sure that's had time to resolve before the big day."

Dr. Clark says she's know couples who wanted to make sure all members of their wedding party sparkled like a diamond ring.

"I've heard of brides treating their bridesmaids, mothers and even fathers to pre-matrimonial BOTOX or lipo in Sacramento," she says. "Non-surgical facial procedures are very popular, since they want everyone's faces to look great on a day when lots of pictures will undoubtedly be taken.

"As long as they have their treatments performed early enough, they can rest assured of a beautiful wedding day without worrying about time for healing."

Dr. David Kaufman and Dr. Christa Clark are board-certified plastic surgeons in Sacramento who focus on breast augmentation, post-bariatric body contouring and other advanced plastic surgery procedures. Dr. Kaufman served as a U.S. Navy SEAL before earning his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Clark earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. Both Dr. Kaufman and Dr. Clark trained extensively with residencies in general surgery and plastic surgery at Stanford University.
