RALEIGH, NC, July 19, 2012 (Press-News.org) ABC11 Eyewitness News (http://www.abc11.com) has announced that it will serve as the media sponsor for a unique campaign with the Habitat for Humanity of Durham (HFHD) called Home For the Holidays, which will work to provide a local family in need with a new home by the 2012 Holiday season. ABC11 will provide coverage of the home building kickoff, which is scheduled for Thursday, July 19 at 7 a.m. at The Streets at Southpoint in Durham. During the kickoff event, framers will build much of the exterior portions of the future HFHD home, which will remain on display at The Streets at Southpoint behind the Crate & Barrel store for one month. During this time, shoppers and visitors will be invited to tour the partially-constructed home, connect with and learn more about HFHD's message, learn more about the family receiving the home, and support the campaign by making a donation to HFHD. In an effort to raise awareness about the home, HFHD and additional community outreach opportunities, a Build Hope Community Day will be held at The Streets at Southpoint on Aug. 4, where attendees will be able to enjoy family-friendly activities and tax-free shopping. On Aug. 6, the home will be transferred to its permanent location in Durham where volunteers will work to finish the home in time for the holidays.
The Streets at Southpoint and Belk will join ABC11 in sponsoring the building of the home. This will be the first time that a HFHD home will be built at a shopping mall.
