NEW YORK, NY, July 20, 2012 (Press-News.org) A newly released article revealing that many individuals in Dubai have suffered from eye infections stemming from the severe summer weather. Dr. Ashraf, who traveled to Dubai to treat these infections, is now warning individuals to protect their eyes against harsh sunlight and other elements. Dr. William Boothe is also urging his patients to adhere to this warning, as this summer season has already been hotter than most.
According to the article, Dubai's temperatures have often exceeded 100 degrees--which has also happened across much of the United States. With little rainfall, these conditions have created an environment that is dangerous to the eyes.
"Many of my Dubai patients consistently have problems of eye strain as a result of the sunlight," explains Dr. Ashraf. "UV radiation can lead to harmful eye infections like cataracts or even loss of sight [...] it's important to get your regular eye exams to diagnose cataracts early on and prevent harmful damage."
Individuals in the United States are facing similar weather, which can result in damage to the eye and, if severe, loss of vision. Dr. William Boothe, who specializes in cornea and LASIK procedures, knows that his patients need to protect their eyes in order to prevent such damage.
"This summer has already been extremely severe," notes Dr. William Boothe, "and July has just gotten started. Without proper eye protection, people will begin to feel the effects of the bright sunlight and harsh conditions. This is why I always encourage my patients to wear sunglasses, hats, and other protective accessories when outside."
In addition to being warmer, summer is also the season during which people spend a great deal of time out of doors. Swimming, barbeques, block parties, and more are typical summertime activities. For this reason, people are more apt to expose their eyes to damage during these warmer months simply because of their activities.
Dr. William Boothe suggests that individuals invest in a pair of sunglasses that protects against UV rays. These glasses should be large enough to adequately protect the eyes. Additionally, he recommends that individuals wear hats when outside, including when at the beach or even just running errands. By protecting their eyes from the sun, individuals can prevent damage to their vision.

Summer for Students
2012-07-20
University is expensive. The National Union of Students puts average annual living costs at around GBP16,000 a year - and that's excluding fees, which are set to rise to as much as GBP9,000 per year from this September. It's hardly surprising, then, that so many students are forced to work during the summer holidays or part-time during the academic term to support themselves financially.
And in difficult economic times, when jobs are hard to come by, most student workers can't afford to be too picky. Typical employment often includes manning a supermarket check-out, ...
