LUTZ, FL, July 20, 2012 (Press-News.org) Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. volunteers will spend the day providing hope at a Laundromat in St. Petersburg. Current's Laundry Love Project washes and dries the clothes and linens of deserving families for free. The project will be held at Best Laundromats Coin Laundry located at 2465 5th Ave., N. St. Petersburg, FL 33713.
Even though this is Current's first time at this Laundromat, this is not their first time teaming up with the owner. "We have worked with him at other locations he owns in the Tampa Bay area. He has been a generous and kind supporter for the past couple of years," said Current's Founder/President, Jason Sowell.
Last weekend's projects in East and West Tampa garnered much support from the community, and volunteers were able to wash and dry clothes for more than 70 families. "We have wanted to host a project in St. Petersburg for some time now, but were unable to due to a lack of volunteers and financial support. Recently, we were contacted by St. Petersburg Underground Church and they offered to collaborate with us on this project. The partnership allows us to gather support from other community organizations," Sowell said.
Other sponsors for the project include National Christian Foundation Tampa Bay, Best Laundromats of Florida WellCare Health Plans, Inc. This is Current's first Laundry Love Project in St. Petersburg, most are held in Tampa. "We are eager to spread our vision and we hope this project allows us to expand our efforts in St. Petersburg."
On July 28, Current will travel back to Brooksville for the third time this year for a Laundry Love Project.
The Laundry Love Project seeks donations of quarters (rolls of $10), coloring books, crayons, laundry baskets and laundry detergent. Donations can be made at the event on the morning of July 14 or by contacting Jason Sowell at 727.537.9082. More information about this event can be found online at http://www.LaundryByCurrent.org.
