LONDON, UK, July 22, 2012 (Press-News.org) Viseum's intelligent CCTV system can be implemented by Police and law enforcement agencies, to aid the monstrous security challenges set by public events, like the Olympic Games and the Jubilee Celebrations. Whilst it can help London 2012 to unpick its massive security bill, the proven ability of Viseum's intelligent CCTV software and unique surveillance cameras make the company's services attractive to anyone, charged with the major security.
Around 10.8 million people are expected to attend the London 2012 games, presenting a massive security operation. Metropolitan Police have confirmed that 12,500 police officers will be on duty at any one time during peak periods of the Games, along with 7,500 troops and 10,000 additional guards. The costs will be extracted from the GBP9.3 billion budget for Olympic safety and security. However assistant commissioner Chris Allison, the National Olympic Security Co-ordinator, said the final costs will not be known until after the games.
"Millions of pounds and thousands of man hours are spent on CCTV monitoring every year. Official reports suggest that around 90% of standard PTZ camera footage is "unusable as evidence" as relevant footage captured is often minimal, out of focus, or occurred out of sight of the camera," said Stuart Thompson, Managing Director of Viseum (UK) Ltd. Feedback from clients using Viseum is that just four independently operating Viseum CCTV security cameras can outperform 20 standard CCTV cameras - each of which would need a dedicated operator to watch and control them in order to catch crime.
Low running costs coupled with autonomous operation makes CCTV feasible again for the wider community. For example, Viseum has been at the forefront of Community Safety Watch, a UK wide community safety service scheme set to save at least GBP1Bn nationally by reducing the costs associated with crime and antisocial disorder.
"The flaws of PTZ surveillance cameras are endless yet they are still commonly used to protect public events, as up until recently it was the only practical CCTV camera device capable of capturing information to react in emergencies or produce evidence needed to convict. Viseum has however developed an innovative intelligent software and PTZ camera device (combined) that eradicates all negatives of the PTZ," added Stuart Thompson, inventor of Viseum's patented camera technology. "Our philosophy is based around making surveillance camera installations more effective through built-in intelligence. The costs of CCTV monitoring at major international events without our built-in intelligence is astronomical," he concluded.
