Intechra's Dallas Facility Receives R2/RIOS Certification

Intechra, the largest independent IT asset disposition (ITAD) company in the United States, today announced its Dallas, Texas facility has received R2/RIOS certification.

2010-10-03
JACKSON, MS, October 03, 2010 (Press-News.org) Intechra, the largest independent IT asset disposition (ITAD) company in the United States, today announced its Dallas, Texas facility has received R2/RIOS certification. Intechra's Columbus, Ohio location received the certification in February of this year. R2/RIOS combines the Responsible Recycling (R2) practices developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and key stakeholders with the Recycling Industry Operating Standard (RIOS) certification developed by the Institute for Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI). Intechra earned the certification following an audit conducted by an ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board third-party auditor.

"Throughout the history of Intechra we have been committed to environmental stewardship, worker health and safety, and our clients' security. This achievement, now added to our extensive list of independent certifications, provides our clients with further proof of this commitment," said Michael Profit, Intechra CEO.

"Intechra has long been an advocate of electronics recycling industry standards and certifications," said Rike Sandlin, Director of Environmental Affairs at Intechra. "We are encouraged by the widespread interest and support R2/RIOS has received in both the buyer and supplier communities."

About R2/RIOS Standard

The R2 standard, facilitated and supported by the US EPA, was the result of a multi-stakeholder process which included government agencies, major OEMs, recyclers, and other experts in sustainability and recycling. R2 requires a management system such as RIOS, as well as stringent controls and tracking of products and materials "downstream" of the recycler, including verifying the legality of exports, health and safety of workers and security of data.

The RIOS standard was designed for the recycling industry and provides a framework for a comprehensive, integrated management system that includes key operational and continual improvement elements for quality, environmental and health and safety performance. The six components of RIOS cover general requirements, policy, planning, implementation, checking and corrective action, and management.

Is Reform Coming Soon for Massachusetts Alimony Laws?

2010-10-03
Much to the disappointment of many, the most recent Massachusetts legislative session closed without changes to the state's alimony laws. Although separate bills had been introduced in both the House and Senate, neither managed to garner sufficient support to pass. Accordingly, Massachusetts remains one of the few states in the country that continues to award alimony for life. Given the amount of debate surrounding this issue, it seems likely that some changes will be coming in the near future. It is unclear, though, what shape these reforms might take. While some ...
