The physicians for the 2012 Top Doctors are selected through a peer-review survey. It is believed that medical professionals are best qualified to judge other medical professionals. To select the physicians, Phoenix magazine randomly surveyed 5,000 Valley physicians, including medical doctors, osteopathic doctors, and naturopathic doctors. The survey provided asks the doctors to nominate peers who, in their judgment, are the best in their field and related fields. In order to qualify, physicians must be board certified.
