INDIANAPOLIS, IN, July 27, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Chef's Academy (http://www.thechefsacademy.com), the Culinary Division of Harrison College, a 110-year-old, nationally accredited institution that offers 40 degree programs in five schools of study, has announced that the school's Tournate Society, a student group dedicated to refining advanced culinary skills, will host a fish fry fundraiser on Saturday, July 28. The fundraiser will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be located on the school's campus at 644 East Washington Street. Event proceeds will fund the Tournate Society's trip to attend the World Culinary Olympics 2012, taking place in October in Erfurt, Germany, where students will enjoy the cuisine of competing international teams, as well as tour culinary landmarks in Germany, Austria and France.
For $8.50, attendees of the fish fry can enjoy a platter that includes fish, coleslaw and homemade chips. Sandwiches will be $5 each, and a sandwich combo with chips and a drink will be available for $7. As part of The Chef's Academy's commitment to promoting locally-sourced food, the institution will serve Indiana tilapia donated by the Indiana Aquaculture Association, which will be fried in a batter made with Oaken Barrel's Pale Ale from the Oaken Barrel Brewing Company in Greenwood, Ind. In addition to the fish fry, there will be a cornhole tournament with a $10 entry fee, as well as face painting for children. Parking will be available at Harrison College, which is adjacent to The Chef's Academy.
QUOTES:
"The 2012 Culinary Olympics presents a wonderful opportunity for our students to expand their experience and familiarity with Europe's best cuisine," said Jayson M. Boyers, national division president of The Chef's Academy. "Competitions like this help students take what they have learned in the classroom and combine it with a real-world industry perspective that will open new doors for them upon graduation. With the fish fry, we hope to not only raise funds for the trip, but welcome the Indianapolis community to our school and show them the importance of embracing the local food culture."

Pulse of Expression in Andree LaRoche's Art at Agora Gallery
2012-07-27
Andree LaRoche's expressive paintings pulse with a dramatic energy as, like Kandinsky, she brings an often musical symphony to her canvases. An exploration of the emotional responses to various color compositions is what drives this self-taught artist. A true colorist, LaRoche invokes a connection to nature in her large works that is deceptive in its apparent abstraction.
Andree LaRoche has exhibited extensively in her native Canada. Viewers of her works invariably relate to her mesmerizing ability to capture harmony and nature in a schematic eruption of color and light.
