The Gotcha Ride Brings Free Ride Service to the University of Alabama

Eco-Friendly Transportation Company set to bring their fleet of proprietary 100% electric vehicles to Tuscaloosa, offering free rides, day and night, to student and faculty members.

2012-07-28
TUSCALOOSA, AL, July 28, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Gotcha Group has signed on as the newest University partner to The University of Alabama, making Tuscaloosa their fifth campus location for their free ride service to be offered to students and faculty. Currently operating at Florida State University, The University of Florida, Auburn University and Georgia Technical University, the company will bring five of their proprietary 100% electric, six-seater "Gotcha Rides" to the campus by September, just in time for football season.

The vehicles are street legal and can be driven on any road 35mph and below and will travel a four mile radius around the campus. They include seat belts and hard side doors for safety and head rest TV's in all of the seats for rider's entertainment. The Gotcha Rides will be driven by University of Alabama students and the company will be holding interviews for interested students during the month of August. The vehicles will operate during both daytime and nighttime hours to service the needs of on campus transportation and help get students home from nearby nightlife venues safely. Riders will be able to request a ride by pinning their location on the map of the company's smart phone app or by calling the request in over the phone.

Started in 2009, by Co-Founders Sean Flood and Drew Sfugaras, The Gotcha Group works with national and local brands that want to get their message out to the much sought after college demographic. These brands sponsor a vehicle through one of several advertising packages offered, which then provides the students with a free ride compliments of "Brand X" in a fun and open environment driven by their peers. "As we expand, Gotcha's focus will continue to be to provide value to the students, the University and the brands we work with," Flood said. "We believe Gotcha will be a great addition to Tuscaloosa and we're excited for the opportunity to be partnering with the National Champs!"
