JACKSONVILLE, NC, July 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) Don Mills, president of SIA Group (www.siagroup.net), a full-service insurance agency with seven offices throughout North Carolina, has announced that the firm's employees have collected and donated more than $50,000 through the Jeans Fund, a companywide initiative started in 2002 to honor an SIA employee who was diagnosed with stage IV cancer. The Jeans Fund was created as a way to bring all SIA Group employees together to have a part in helping her. In her memory, SIA Group has continued to support the Jeans Fund through the years and has donated this money to countless area organizations like the Avon Breast Cancer Foundation and Social Services, as well as to families in need.
A similar initiative called Lee National Denim Day began in 1982 when Lee Denim paired with The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to support those diagnosed with breast cancer. Like Lee National Denim Day, employees are eligible to wear jeans and an SIA Group-branded shirt every Friday by providing a $5 donation to the Jeans Fund.
QUOTES:
"The Jeans Fund has been a great tool in bringing our employees together to support the morale of our corporate family as well as the local community," said Mills. "These contributions show that SIA Group is more than a workplace, we are a family."
