PALM SPRINGS, CA, July 31, 2012 (Press-News.org) Pura Vida Resort Palm Springs (http://www.puravidaps.com) co-owner David Reid said, "You can go with the trend or make your own," of opening a luxurious gay men's resort in Warm Sands. In a neighborhood famous for its many clothing-optional gay hotels, Pura Vida stands out as a luxury NON-clothing-optional gay resort for the discriminating traveler.
Since opening in July 2011, the unique approach has been working. In April, San Francisco Bay Area Reporter Travel Columnist Ed Walsh called Pura Vida "one of the most upscale and modern gay resorts in the world." Rave reviews on social media sites like TripAdvisor and Yelp have helped make Pura Vida the place to go for those in the know.
While vacationing in Palm Springs in 2010, Reid was looking for a second home, but instead, found the resort for sale. "My background in hotel management at Whistler-Blackcomb helped me see the gap in the market for an upscale experience totally unique in Palm Springs," says Reid. The project to create a luxury hotel began with a total remodel including extensive use of travertine, custom wood work, 2-man showers and many other amenities typically found in only the finest resorts.
The hotel space has open common areas including an outdoor kitchen and BBQ that allows for group events. As part of the complimentary cocktail hour, Pura Vida guests can enjoy premium wines, spirits and beverages as part of their stay. With eight rooms, a group of friends can rent out the entire resort to have the intimacy of a private home and the luxury feel of a full service hotel. The venue may also be rented for special events and corporate functions.
To celebrate the first full year in business by offering Summer Specials through August, stay two nights and get a third free through September 1, 2012. Full details of the offer are online at PuraVidaPS.com.
"Palm Springs has become a year round destination," says Reid, "with coastal cities often experiencing cloudy spring/summer weather, visitors from San Diego to Seattle love to visit and warm up." Guests from the US, Canada and Australia are visiting to recharge their batteries and explore all that is new in Palm Springs including the 26-foot statue of Marilyn Monroe, "Forever Marilyn" in the heart of downtown. The summer fun also includes nightlife in a variety of restaurants like LULU and Zin Bistro for foodies. The variety of summer activities includes hiking at the top of the Tram, the latest exhibits at Palm Springs Art Museum, Thursday night VillageFest and more.
Pura Vida Resort is an 8 room, luxury gay men's hotel in the Warm Sands area of Palm Springs, CA. Rooms feature an extra thick pillow top king size bed, fireplaces, 40" flat-screen TV's, oversized showers, Hans Grohe fixtures, Molton Brown amenities, Keurig coffee makers, a private patio for every room, pool and spa areas with panoramic mountain views, free Wi-Fi throughout and a daily hosted Social hour. How to avoid traps in plastic electronics
2012-07-30
Plastic electronics hold the promise of cheap, mass-produced devices. But plastic semiconductors have an important flaw: the electronic current is influenced by "charge traps" in the material. These traps, which have a negative impact on plastic light-emitting diodes and solar cells, are poorly understood.
However, a new study by a team of researchers from the University of Groningen and the Georgia Institute of Technology reveals a common mechanism underlying these traps and provides a theoretical framework to design trap-free plastic electronics. The results are presented ...
