LONDON, ENGLAND, August 01, 2012 (Press-News.org) Intelligent CCTV technology specialists Viseum UK may hold the solution to budget cuts that threaten the efficiency of police forces across the UK. In October 2010 the government announced that the central funding provided to the police service would reduce by 20% in the four years between March 2011 and March 2015. However, recent reports from HM Inspectorate of Constabulary state that a number of police forces may not be able to provide a "sufficiently efficient or effective service" in the future.
As budgets have been cut across the board, there is much higher demand in sourcing security camera systems that deliver both value and results. The answer lies in the proven ability of Viseum UK's intelligent CCTV software and uniquely designed surveillance cameras, which make for an attractive solution for those requiring cost effective yet high quality security. Spending money on CCTV that works makes for a much more viable option than investing in more cameras that don't.
Police forces currently spend many millions of pounds each year on CCTV monitoring. This can take many hours to retrieve and review and often cannot be used because the incident did not occur in the viewpoint of the camera. Feedback from police forces using Viseum is that just four independently operating Viseum cameras can outperform 20 standard CCTV security cameras; each of which would need a dedicated operator to watch and control them in order to catch crime.
"Viseum focuses on intelligent software and innovation, instead of just increasing the number of surveillance cameras" said Stuart Thompson, Viseum UK's Managing Director. "Our philosophy is based around making surveillance camera installations more effective through built-in intelligence. As a number of police forces are struggling to make the required cuts to balance the books, we offer a cost effective and long term solution to crime detection and prevention.
"We have developed a multi-tasking camera that actually records and prevents crimes, unlike traditional PTZ cameras that simply face the wrong way most of the time and have become a laughing stock with hardened criminals."
Viseum has pioneered a scheme known as Community Safety Watch, a community safety service scheme set to generate at least GBP100M over the next five years for the UK economy. Early forecasts suggest that at least GBP1Bn would be saved by reducing the costs associated with crime and anti-social disorder throughout the UK.
"Viseum UK offers solutions that are viable in an economy strapped for cash whilst delivering a tangible impact on crime for communities," added Stuart. "It is initiatives like these of Viseum's that are delivering a win-win situation for all concerned and improving the bottom line for everyone - while more importantly, making a tangible difference to real people's lives in our towns and cities."
