NCTA works to protect the interests of North Carolina's trucking industry by working with state and federal regulatory and enforcement agencies.
The Longs launched Longistics first as a trucking company in the Triangle in 1984, contracting with firms needing transportation assistance. They developed a highly specialized "Imperial Fleet" of skilled professional drivers dedicated to promoting world-class service to customers with an emphasis on using the latest technology. Duane and Pat also maintain memberships in the South Carolina and Tennessee Trucking Associations, the National Motor Freight Trucking Association and the American Trucking Associations, where they have served on multiple committees for the latter organization. In 2010, the Longs received the Earl E. Congdon, Jr. Award For Excellence In Highway Freight Transportation from the North Carolina Transportation Hall of Fame.

"As the industry's primary voice on transportation, it is imperative that we create healthy communication and foster positive relationships among industry leaders and government agencies."
"I am honored to be appointed to another term on the North Carolina Trucking Association Board of Directors this year," said Duane Long. "As an entrepreneur, I hope that I can serve my industry by bringing my 40 years of business experience to help provide the right education and training to North Carolina's trucking industry, as well as advocate highway safety."
"On behalf of the North Carolina Trucking Association, I am delighted that Duane and Pat Long are returning to serve on our board of directors," said NCTA President Crystal Collins. "The organization and our industry will benefit from the vision, leadership and experience they have to offer."
