JB Auto Care Offers Tips on How to Protect Car Batteries in Summer Heat

As summer temperatures increase, many car owners are urged to take the proper steps to protect their vehicle's battery from premature failure. JB Auto Care offers suggestions and services for proactive battery protection.

2012-08-02
NEW YORK, NY, August 02, 2012 (Press-News.org) While many motorists blame cold winter weather for dead batteries, a recent report from The Sacramento Bee reveals that high summer temperatures could be to blame for the failure. Although citizens across the country are currently experiencing intensive heat this summer, there are steps they can take to prevent their car battery from dying unexpectedly. JB Auto Care, a car repair service in Massachusetts, provides recommendations and maintenance services to those who wish to protect their car and save on additional automotive costs.

Bill Brusard, JB Auto Care President, explains why high temperatures can cause early failure in a car battery, "Battery fluid will evaporate when exposed to extreme heat, which leads to internal damage of the device. Motorists may not notice that their car battery is actually near its end during the summer and find that by wintertime, the battery is dead." While the article states that those in hotter regions of America, such as the Southern U.S., may experience an average battery life of two years, Brusard notes, "JB Auto Care customers that reside in Massachusetts, typically have a greater battery life because of cooler temperatures. With a quality product, average life can extend up to five years with proper maintenance."

However, for those that do live in warm regions, there are many preventative steps car owners can take to protect a battery from damage. JB Auto Care offers battery testing services, and urges its customers to come in for regular testing to avoid having to replace a battery at an inconvenient time. By replacing a battery before failure happens, motorists can save a great deal of money by avoiding extra repairs. Brusard also notes that simple actions, such as storing a car in a cool, shaded place can extend battery life.

In addition, the article states that is important to make sure the battery is clean from buildup. Brusard suggests checking a battery regularly to make sure the terminals are free from corrosion and other material. "It also helps to make sure that clamps are secured tightly and do not have a weak connection," says Brusard.

For car owners in the Weymouth, Massachusetts area, JB Auto Care offers extensive maintenance that goes well beyond battery care. "Although it is advised to take steps to protect a battery, if one encounters a sudden failure, JB Auto Care can provide emergency services to assist with recovery," Brusard concludes.
