BARRIE, ON, August 02, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Busch Group of Companies' 1st Annual Golf FORE Animals charity tournament raised nearly $3,000 for the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA)'s Barrie branch.
The charity golf tournament took place at Tangle Creek Golf & Country Club on June 19, 2012. The event saw fifty-two golfers participate in a team best ball challenge, with thirteen teams of four competing for the top spot.
The 1st Annual Golf FORE Animals charity tournament was organized by NetGain SEO's Nathan Allen, Business Development & SEO Specialist, and John Greenway, Regional Manager of Canada at Busch Systems. The event was marketed through a variety of outlets including an interactive website, local television, and local radio stations.
"I always wanted a challenge to take on, and I wanted to support a cause that I was passionate about," explains Nathan, "It turned out a golf tournament was a great way to encompass both of those things. The day was very successful as we raised nearly $3,000 for the Barrie OSPCA.
The golf tournament consisted of several fundraising initiatives that included corporate hole sponsorships, a hole-in-one challenge, a silent auction, putting challenges, and more. Prizes distributed during the tournament were generously donated by many sponsors.
Congratulations to Team Canadian Bearings, headed by team captain, John Taylor, whose team battled the sun, wind and the challenging course to place first with a nine-under par. An honorable mention goes to Team Casal Catering, who won the most honest golfers award at the tournament.
"I am very grateful to all of our participants, corporate sponsors, the staff at Tangle Creek and the Barrie OSPCA; without all of them none of this would have been possible", Allen says, "With all of the positive feedback received about the event, I can't wait to start planning next year's tournament and strongly believe we'll be able to at least double the number of golfers attending."
The money raised from the event will go to the Barrie OSPCA to help pay for toys, bedding, food and medical care for the animals being sheltered there. The Ontario SPCA is one of the largest, most responsive animal welfare organizations in the country, providing care and shelter for tens of thousands of animals every year. They provide shelter, veterinary care; investigate animal cruelty accusations, and more.
