The United States of America Adaptive Bobsled Team and US Paralympic Bobsled & Skeleton Association, Inc. First Annual Fundraiser August 24, 2012

2012-08-03
PORT ORCHARD, WA, August 03, 2012 (Press-News.org) Members of the US Bobsled and Skeleton Federation, including athletes from The United States of America Adaptive Bobsled Team (USAABT) and the US Paralympic Bobsled & Skeleton Association, Inc. located in Park City, Utah are scheduled to participate in 5 international driving schools this upcoming winter season. Teams will then compete in races across the US and Canada. A fundraising event will be held Friday, August 24, 2012 from 7-10pm at Molly Blooms Restaurant and Pub located at 6180 Ute Boulevard, Park City, Utah to raise funds to build a new modified bobsled.

Driving schools and races will serve as preliminary qualification events for inclusion in the 2018 Winter Paralympic Games in South Korea. International school locations include: Innsbruck, Austria; Calgary, Canada; Altenberg, Germany; Segulda, Latvia; and Park City, Utah. All athletes who are qualified to participate and compete have some physical challenge such as paraplegia, quadriplegia, or amputations which in some cases require modification to their sleds. One modified bobsled belonging to the US program, known as the "Red Dawg", was the only bobsled of its kind in the US. It was recently involved in a mishap and cannot be repaired. The US Adaptive Team is excited to announce its First Annual Fundraising Event in partnership with Molly Blooms Restaurant and Pub to help with the purchase and modification of a new bobsled.

Meet pioneering US athletes, watch video of their journey, enjoy food, drink, and listen to live music from Park City's own Sin City Soul and national touring rock band VanMarter Project, signed on Hydrus Media, a sponsor for the event. Your support will help developing US Paralympic Athletes obtain the necessary bobsled and equipment required to train here at home and around the world. The "Red Dawg" bobsled will be on display at Molly Blooms that evening.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the night of the event. Space is limited. The USAABT is an IRS recognized 501(c)3 organization and tickets are tax deductable.
