Child Support Orders in Georgia

2012-08-04
According to the Children's Defense Fund, as of 2011, 16.4 million American children live in poverty. That number represents an increase of 950,000 between 2009 and 2010 alone. In Georgia, as in the rest of the nation, the struggle is intensifying, and lack of financial support from children's non-custodial parents can certainly be a factor. Georgia has a public policy that parents are required to adequately support their children to age 18, or until children are married or emancipated. A child's right to support is absolute; a parent cannot opt-out of that right on ...

Social Media a Growing Influence in Georgia Divorce

2012-08-04
Social media websites like Facebook are increasingly part of everyday life. Unfortunately, marriage experts are seeing a huge spike in the influence of Facebook on failing relationships and divorce. A British legal service company reports that Facebook played a role in one out of every three divorce filings in 2011. According to the American Association of Matrimonial Lawyers, a large majority of U.S. divorce attorneys -- over 80 percent -- say social media is ...

Filing an Application The first step of the process is to complete an application ...

The U.S. Patent Process

2012-08-04
Americans are innovative people, coming up with new and better products and processes all of the time. In 2011 alone, the government received over 535,000 patent applications. People should understand the U.S. patent application process, referred to as "patent prosecution" by patent attorneys and others in the field, or risk losing the value of their inventions, or potentially worse, infringing on another person's patent. Patent Searches Before patenting or selling their creations, inventors must ensure that no one else has a patent for the same invention. ...
